Company That Hoarded Ethereum (ETH) in Massive Amounts Throughout the Year Makes Its Next Move – Happening for the First Time
Bitmine, considered the largest among Ethereum treasury-focused companies, has taken its first step into ETH staking.
According to Onchain data, the company began earning returns through staking this morning by depositing 74,880 ETH (approximately $219 million) into Ethereum’s Proof of Stake (PoS) mechanism.
This transaction marks a first for Bitmine. While the company currently holds 4.06 million ETH, staking only a small portion of it is considered a significant milestone for institutional Ethereum treasuries.
Under current conditions, the staking yield is calculated at approximately 3.12% APY annually. If Bitmine were to stake all of its ETH, it is projected to earn approximately 126,800 ETH annually. Based on an ETH price of approximately $2,927, this amount is equivalent to $371 million.
Analysts say this move signals a shift in institutional investors’ perspective on the Ethereum ecosystem, positioning ETH not only as a balance sheet asset but also as a “digital capital” tool that provides consistent returns.
