CNBC: Most polls oppose Hassett becoming the next Fed president
according to a CNBC survey, although 84% of respondents expect Trump to nominate National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett to succeed as Fed Chair, only 11% believe he is the suitable candidate. 47% of respondents favor Fed Governor Christopher Waller, 23% support Warsh, but only 5% think Trump will choose either of them.
The market is concerned whether Hassett can adhere to the Fed's dual mission of stabilizing prices and achieving full employment, as well as maintain the central bank's independence from political interference. 76% of respondents believe the next chair will be more dovish than Powell, and 51% think he will cater to the president's desire for rate cuts rather than act independently.
