G7 countries will take strong measures to protect AI competition

According to Cointelegraph, the Anti-Trust agency of G7 countries stated that it will take "strong" law enforcement actions to protect competition in the field of artificial intelligence to address risks that may become "entrenched or irreversible".

After a two-day summit held in Rome, regulatory agencies stated in a communiqué on October 4th that they hope to reduce the "competitive bottlenecks" that hinder new AI entrants. These bottlenecks often give existing companies priority access to generative AI tools, data, and specialized chips. They added that they hope to ensure that AI is not used to promote "collusion" among AI companies, as this may lead to price controls, sharing of competitive sensitive information, or the formation of monopolies.

The group is composed of authorities from the US, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, and Italy, and is also concerned with ensuring that AI is not abused to affect copyright, consumer protection, privacy, and data protection. The communiqué pointed out that generative AI systems may harm content creators and innovators, prevent them from being adequately compensated for their work, and suppress human creativity and innovation. Ensuring that AI systems do not distort consumer decision-making processes through false or misleading information is crucial for maintaining consumer trust and promoting a healthy competitive environment.

Regulatory agencies stated that keeping up with the pace of AI development, establishing AI laws, and strengthening international cooperation are the three responsibilities to achieve more favorable results in the AI market. They also proposed "guiding principles" to ensure open and fair AI markets, including fair competition, fair access and opportunities, choice, interoperability, innovation, transparency, and accountability. The group emphasized that open technical standards will promote innovation while reducing the concentration of market power and preventing consumers and businesses from being locked in closed ecosystems. The G7 is an informal group of industrialized democratic countries that meets annually to discuss a wide range of issues from global economic governance and international security to emerging AI markets.

Why does bitcoin only rise when the U.S. government reopens?

The US government shutdown has entered its 36th day, leading to a decline in global financial markets. The shutdown has prevented funds from being released from the Treasury General Account (TGA), draining market liquidity and triggering a liquidity crisis. Interbank lending rates have soared, while default rates on commercial real estate and auto loans have risen, increasing systemic risk. The market is divided over future trends: pessimists believe the liquidity shock will persist, while optimists expect a liquidity release after the shutdown ends. Summary generated by Mars AI.
