Bitfury makes a $12 million strategic investment in the decentralized AI computing power network Gonka AI
According to ChainCatcher, as reported by Forbes, crypto mining company Bitfury Group recently completed a $12 million strategic investment in the decentralized AI computing network Gonka.ai, subscribing to 20 million GNK tokens at a price of $0.6 per token. This investment marks Bitfury's first public investment after establishing its $1 billion Ethical AI Fund, indicating that traditional mining companies are systematically entering the decentralized AI infrastructure sector.
As previously reported, Gonka completed an $18 million financing round in 2023, with investors including OpenAI investor Coatue Management, Solana investor Slow Ventures, K5, several partners from Insight and Benchmark, among others. Early builders also included several well-known industry institutions such as 6 Block, Hard Yaka, Gcore, and Hyperfusion.
