Robinhood CEO: The On-chain Lending Market for Tokenized Securities Has Broad Prospects
ChainCatcher reported that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev stated on the a16z podcast that the securities lending market is a huge source of revenue for brokers and counterparties, but its operations are extremely opaque and inefficient. A large number of transactions are still matched peer-to-peer through chat tools on Bloomberg terminals.
If these assets were tokenized, it would create liquidity pools and the entire process would become extremely simple. Imagine being able to lend or borrow stocks directly through a protocol like Aave; for end users, this would be much more efficient and user-friendly than the current cumbersome system that has evolved “naturally” over decades.
