OpenAI CEO: Aiming for automated AI research interns by 2026 and automated AI researchers by 2028

Jinse Finance reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated, "We have set an internal goal to have an automated AI research intern running on hundreds of thousands of GPUs by September 2026; and to achieve a truly automated AI researcher by March 2028. We may not fully achieve this goal, but considering the potentially enormous impact, we believe that being open and transparent is in the public interest."
