Russian official: Nuclear options not ruled out in response to NATO attack
According to a report by Jinse Finance citing CCTV News, Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Committee on International Affairs, stated in response to remarks by U.S. officials that any NATO attack on the Kaliningrad region would prompt Russia to take countermeasures, including the possible use of nuclear means. On the same day, Viktor Muratov, a member of the Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) Committee on Defense and Security, also emphasized that NATO must understand that any attack on Russian territory would have extremely serious consequences.
