Vitalik: L2 Should Fully Leverage L1 Capabilities, Balancing Trust Minimization and Efficiency
According to ChainCatcher, Ethereum founder Vitalik stated in an article, "The best way to build L2s is to make greater use of the capabilities provided by L1—such as security, censorship resistance, zero-knowledge proofs, and data availability—while simplifying your own logic to function only as a sequencer and prover (or just a prover in a based design) to handle core execution."
This model combines 'minimal trust' and 'efficiency,' a goal that enterprise blockchain teams pursued throughout the 2010s but never truly achieved. Now, with Ethereum's L2 solutions, this goal is finally attainable. In fact, we have already seen some successful cases: when issues arise on L2, the features of L1 have successfully protected users' interests."
