South Korea’s Woori Bank Applies for Stablecoin Trademark, Signaling Entry into Cryptocurrency Business
According to a report by Jinse Finance, the Korean Intellectual Property Office announced on July 9 that Woori Bank, one of South Korea's five major commercial banks, applied for 12 stablecoin trademarks on July 7, including “WKRW,” “KRWOORI,” “WONKR,” and “CKRW.” These trademarks cover cryptocurrency financial transaction services, cryptocurrency electronic transfer services, and more. With this move, all five major South Korean financial holding companies now hold stablecoin trademarks at the level of their affiliates or holding companies.
