Institutions: The Federal Reserve Should Cut Interest Rates Soon to Avoid Lagging Behind
Eckhard Schulte, Chairman of the Board at MainSky Asset Management, stated that interest rates in the United States remain highly restrictive, and he believes the Federal Reserve might be falling behind. "The Federal Reserve should cut rates as soon as possible."
He mentioned that although tariffs might lead to increased inflation, it would be a one-time effect. The Federal Reserve might not cut rates in June. "However, this poses a risk that, due to its overreactive approach, it will fall behind the curve." This potential policy mistake represents the highest risk of a recession in the U.S. economy at present. Currently, the money market is pricing in a 25 basis point rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September.
