Ethereum Pectra Upgrade to Introduce Feature to Increase Validator Effective Balance
Ethereum core developer timbeiko.eth posted on the X platform that for stakers, Pectra will introduce a feature to increase the effective balance of validators. This means small operators can directly increase their stake holdings, while large operators can consolidate validators to reduce the bandwidth usage of the p2p network. This feature also eliminates the PoW follow distance before the merge, shortens the delay in processing validator deposits, and introduces withdrawals that can be triggered by the execution layer, enabling a more trustless staking structure. It was previously reported that the Ethereum mainnet will execute the Pectra upgrade on May 7.
