US lawmakers postpone cryptocurrency legislation timetable
At the inaugural meeting of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee's Digital Assets Subcommittee on Wednesday, Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that the goal of the bipartisan group supporting cryptocurrencies is to pass a comprehensive framework for this industry by the end of this year. This is several months later than what Republican policymakers had previously announced as their timeline for pushing key cryptocurrency market structure reforms through Congress. Newly appointed cryptocurrency czar David Sacks earlier this month vowed to push Congress to write digital asset market structure reform and other pro-cryptocurrency measures into law within the first 100 days of President Trump's second administration. However, at Wednesday's meeting, legislators and industry experts did not show urgency in accelerating these efforts.
