Apple has removed cloud encryption for UK users, insisting it refuses to set up data backdoors
Apple has removed its Advanced Data Protection cloud encryption feature for UK users. This decision is in response to regulatory requirements in the UK, but Apple has explicitly stated that it will "never" create backdoors for user data.
Earlier reports, according to The Washington Post, the UK Home Office has issued a "technical capability notice" to Apple, requesting access to encrypted user data. Sources revealed that the UK government has asked Apple to create a "backdoor" to access all content stored in the cloud by users.
