Woman Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Failed Bitcoin Murder for Hire Attempt
The U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced Friday that a woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for her failed plan to hire a murderer using Bitcoin. Melody Sasser attempted to use the dark web to hire a hit man to kill an Alabama resident. She paid nearly $10,000 in cryptocurrency and tried to make the murder look like an accident. Authorities found hard evidence at her home that led to her arrest and conviction.
