Opinion: Solana mainnet updates to address network congestion, price rebounds
According to CryptoPotato, Solana has become a hot topic of discussion in recent months. The network has become home to hundreds, if not thousands, of meme coins and is heralded by many as a better alternative to Ethereum. The reason is simple - Solana is faster and cheaper. Solana is not without its problems, however. While Solana’s supporters tout its faster transaction times, greater throughput, and lower costs, detractors often point out that it is more centralized and less secure than Ethereum. Solana has been shut down on several occasions. In February, for example, the network was offline for several hours before engineers were able to restore it. Now, developers have rolled out a Mainnet update specifically designed to address these issues. Mainnet update v1.17.31 is designed to specifically address network congestion issues. Additionally, Solana’s price has also rebounded from recent lows, falling below $130 earlier on April 14, and is currently trading around $154, up 7.5% over the past 24 hours.
