The CME "Fed Watch" data shows that the probability of the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates unchanged in May is 94.1%, with a 0% chance of cutting rates by 25 basis points, and a 5.9% chance of raising them by 25 basis points. By June, the likelihood of the Fed maintaining steady rates drops to 63.5%, while there's a cumulative probability of 32.6% for a rate cut by 25 basis points, and only a slight increase to a cumulative probability of just under four percent (3.9%) for an equivalent rate hike.
