Bitcoin Surpasses $69,000 to Set New All-Time High, Has Appreciated More Than 23 Million Times Since First Pricing
On March 5, Bitcoin broke through $69,000 to hit a new all-time high and is now quoted at $69,005, up 4.46 percent in 24 hours, according to market data. Bitcoin's genesis block was mined by Satoshi Nakamoto on January 3, 2009, on a small server in Helsinki, Finland. It was first priced into the market on May 18, 2010, in a transaction in which Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer in Florida, USA, purchased pizzas (2 for $30 at a cost of 10,000 BTC), initially trading at around $0.003 USD. Today, Bitcoin has gradually appreciated more than 23 million times since it was first priced.
