The value of Bitcoin currently held by the US government has exceeded 8 billion dollars
According to Blockworks, the value of Bitcoin held by the U.S. government has increased to $8.3 billion due to a rebound in Bitcoin prices. Between November 2020 and 2022, U.S. authorities seized a total of 207,189 Bitcoins in three separate actions related to the dark web market Silk Road, hacker Jimmy Zhong from Silk Road, and Bitfinex hackers. The report suggests that if the U.S. government chose to hold all confiscated Bitcoins instead of selling them, it would still hold about 400 thousand Bitcoins ($17.4 billion), almost double its current holding value.
