Mt. Gox creditors may have started receiving refunds denominated in Japanese yen
According to a report from Cointelegraph citing Reddit social posts, creditors of the Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox may have started receiving their statutory repayments in Bitcoin. Several Reddit users claim to have received payments and provided screenshots of email screens showing PayPal payment receipts. Several posts on Reddit indicate that Mt. Gox has been sending refunds denominated in Japanese yen to users via PayPal.
Previously, it was announced on the official website of Mt. Gox that the deadline for basic repayment, early lump sum repayment, and interim repayment has been changed from October 31, 2023 to October 31, 2024. For creditors who have provided necessary information to the trustee, repayments will be made by the end of this year in order. Please note that the repayment schedule may change and specific repayment dates for each creditor are yet to be determined. On the other hand, for creditors who have not yet provided necessary information to the trustee, they continue to be requested by the trustee to provide such information before repayments can commence.
