Director of the SEC Division of Trading and Markets: The "trustless" mechanism of digital assets must operate within a "trusted" market
ChainCatcher news, Jamie Selway, Director of the Division of Trading and Markets at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, stated at the SIFMA Market Structure Conference that although crypto assets are built on a "trustless" decentralized mechanism, healthy trading still relies on a market structure based on "trust".
Selway pointed out that the SEC will promote clear regulatory rules through "Project Crypto" to support competition and innovation, and avoid regulatory distortion of fair market competition. He emphasized that regardless of whether participants are new or established, policy making should treat them fairly, as the market itself is the ultimate judge of value.
